Ask around Berlin for second hand menswear that is not a bin of band shirts and the answers run out quickly. Chrome Store is one of the few that holds up. Jochen opened it on Lenaustrasse in August 2015 and has kept the men's and women's sides genuinely equal since, which almost nobody else in Neukoelln does.
Designer vintage and second hand, plus a handful of new pieces from Berlin labels. Names that come through: Jil Sander, Prada, Maison Margiela, Marc Jacobs, A.P.C., Acne, Lala Berlin, Odeeh, Wood Wood, The Kooples, COS. Berlin designers Thone Negron, Xenia Bous and Sissi Goetze turn up too.
There is also a proper silver jewellery selection, classic rather than trend led, which is worth a look even if the clothes are not your size that day.
Monday to Friday midday to six, Saturday until seven, closed Sunday. Note there is no working website: the old domain is dead, so Instagram is where the stock actually appears. Prices sit in the middle, and reviewers consistently describe them as fair for the labels involved rather than cheap.
One honest note: opinions on the welcome are divided. Most people find the owner knowledgeable, some have found him brusque. Go with that expectation and you will be fine.
You are a man looking for something better than fast fashion at a used price. You want Margiela or Jil Sander without the Mitte markup. You buy silver.
Skip it if you want to browse anonymously. This is a small shop with an owner in it.
