Shop vibe
Red carpet
Walk into Garments and you feel like you stepped onto a film set. That is not coincidence. Astrid and Sandra spent years dressing actors in film costume departments before they opened their own shop. In the Linienstrasse shop in Mitte, every rail looks like it was styled for a scene.
They buy from private sellers and a few wholesalers, but never in bulk. Every piece is checked and chosen by hand, one by one. Film professionals also come by to try clothes for a role, and if it works, they buy.
A beautiful shop, very carefully arranged, very cinematic, and so many incredible pieces, we do not know where to look. One of my favorite places in Berlin, actually.
The 80s are their favorite decade, and it shows, with a little bit of the 70s. It's high-end and designer, but not haute couture: often niche designers you may not know, like Jutta Covian and her fantastic leather jackets, next to Kenzo, Lala Berlin, Gianfranco Ferre, Cardin, or Diane von Fürtstenberg. As Astrid says, they don't hunt for labels; what counts is the quality and the statement. Every piece has something strong: a cut, a unit, a scale, a fabric. In one we don't use enough: Panache.
Look for rare leather jackets, a lot of 80's jewelry, silk scarves, very statement shoes (including vertiginously high heels), bags, and all kinds of accessories. The quality is excellent, and the condition is exceptional.
Garments is in Mitte, a few meters away from U8 Rosenthaler Platz. Prices are remarkably fair for the level of quality, selection, and choice. They buy from private sellers, not on commission.
You want the piece that makes the outfit: 80's clothing and accessories gems (including a lot of clip hearings), rare leather jackets, and red-carpet looks.
